Clarifications to the rules are listed below. This will be kept up to date, so please ensure your design complies to avoid disqualification – any questions post in the Facebook Group 👍

  1. Vehicle will initially be placed just behind the start line with the battery in and the switch in the off position.
  2. Time starts when the switch is flicked.
  3. Time stops when 100% of device crosses the finish line, none of the device can be left behind.
  4. No stored energy on device is allowed, except the battery, this includes GPE, KE, Chemical etc.. **NO EXPLOSIVES**
  5. Floor is a typical industrial unit concrete floor, not polished but very smooth and flat.
  6. The switch can be any type, but it needs to be simple, intuitive and accessible.
  7. Please post vehicles in the ‘switch off’ state.
  8. If you would like the vehicle back afterwards we will ask that you pay £5 for this postage if you are inside the UK. International competitors are very welcome but we may ask for slightly more to cover postage if you’d like us to post it back to you.
  9. Postal address has changed so please ensure you use the updated address on this web page.
  10. We will not be providing any components for the build, the entire vehicle is to be procured and manufactured by yourselves.
  11. No storing the battery energy before the switch is flicked in another state (e.g. in a capacitor!!).. All suspicious passive components will be checked prior to launch!
  12. We will be using the ‘Duracell Simply’ batteries.
