  1. If any part of your contraption ends up at a further distance from the start than your egg yolk then your distance will be zero.
  2. The contraption can split as long as it’s easy to set up again in 30 seconds.
  3. If parts of the contraption are ejected during the launch process the 30 second setup procedure will include searching and reassembling these parts – unless it is made clear in the Google forms questionnaire that you do not require these parts and they are sacrificial.
  4. You can drop mass off the table and use this energy to your advantage if you wish.
  5. We will not be disclosing the table dimensions so you can attempt to use the area behind or to the side of the starting area but this is at your own risk.
  6. The use of Lead is fine.
  7. We will give you up to 1 minute for the egg to leave the starting box. we will then take the measurement once the contraption is still and we are convinced that the egg will travel no further.
  8. The starting table will be inside our industrial unit which has a 6m ceiling.
  9. The roller shutter door is just over 5m tall.
  10. Multiple operations for the startup procedure are fine, as long as it can be done in 30 seconds. The simpler you make it the less likely we are to set it up wrong!
  11. Sticky tape is fine.
  12. If the egg doesn’t break we will assume that the yolk is still inside the shell and measure from the middle of the egg.
  13. Build whatever you like, so long as it is within the rules + clarifications. There is no need to stick to a conventional trebuchet design!
  14. The use of explosives is not allowed.
  15. The eggs we’ll be using range from 52mm to 58mm tall and 41mm to 46mm max. Ø
  16. We have just over 20 meters of space from the table inside our unit to the fence outside and we don’t expect anyone to build something that reaches this fence, but we will be ready with a board if someone does achieve this feat 😲 and we will measure the heights of the yolks in this case.
