Clarifications to the rules are listed below. This will be kept up to date, so please ensure your design complies to avoid disqualification – any questions post in the Facebook Group 👍

1. You can inflate whatever you like using air.

2. The ‘The air cannot be used to generate thrust’ is there to stop a drone on a string style device – The tower has to essentially be self supported.

3. The challenge will take place inside our industrial unit. The roof height is 7.6m. We do not expect anyone to reach this height. If they do then it will be the fastest wins.

4. The roof is steel cladding. It is not to be used to support the tower.

5. Chemical reactions (outside the battery), pre-pressurized gas or any other alternative energy supplies are against the rules – all energy must be sourced from the battery.

6. You cannot drill, glue or anyway attach anything to the floor the structure must be self supported.

7. The assembly must be thermally stable at room temperature before the switch is flicked.

8. No significant amount of stored energy can be released, even if you overcompensate for it. For example you can’t have a system that has a huge spring force pushing it upwards and a huge weight pulling it downwards and the battery energy allows for the upwards motion.
