- The battery will be “1 x New Duracell Simply PP3 9V Battery” this will be supplied by us on the day.
- All sides, including the back wall are 5cm higher than the sand (± our levelling tolerance!).
- The rope will be 1.5m long as the mounting point could be at the front of the vehicles, so there will always be slack in it.
- The vehicles are allowed to expand beyond the original 250mm cube but must retract, by the use of a reverse switch to within the space claim during the 1 minute reset time after the competition.
- If any part of the vehicle goes over the red zone they will lose.
- The weight of the vehicle after the round has to be the same as before it – this is to prevent contaminating the sand with fluid etc.
- Each contestant only gets 500mm of rope from the centre line to the washer so there will always be at least 500mm of slack before the round starts.
- The entries will be put down with as small a force as we can and they must be stable before the switch is flicked. (We will not be pushing them into the sand at all).
- No part of your contraption is allowed to enter the internal volume of the wooden planks or base or you will lose. You are allowed to touch them and grip on the surface of them if desired. (No screwing into them!)
- Your contraption is not allowed to enter the airspace (or sand space) of the opponents half or you will lose. (See Bristol Bot Builders (BBB) for fighting competitions!)
- We will be placing the contraptions down first then hitching them. The hitching process must be simple and be able to be carried out in less than 5 seconds.
- The reset has to happen by use of a reverse switch so it all has to be automatic after this switch is flicked (we will place on flat ground to prevent snagging)
- The green zone floor will be raised to flat with the top of the end plank so that contraptions can’t use the outside face of the plank to grapple onto.
- The rope we will be using is: ‘4mm Solid Braid Nylon Rope’
- You have to assume the green zone area is infinitely long, in reality we’ll probably use a 1.2m sheet of plyboard but we want no grappling beyond this!
- The planks enclosing the sand are ‘Rough Sawn Treated Whitewood’ planks
